I need to know if I'm missing some kind of codec, or if the video file I have is just corrupt or something.

Did you take the video yourself, because if you did than you might have used a camera with a video recording option.Well cameras don't have a mic to transfer the sounds.Or if it was a video that has sound but when you play the one you downloaded it doesn't have any sound, then delete the video and redownload the video from somewhere else.

- Check the wires in the back to ensure they are correctly placed and fully inserted.
- Right-click to open the volume control button (bottom right of window) and check it out.
- Go into Windows Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel.

Last, but not least, if your speakers have a volume control button, turn it up a tad.

Good luck.

it may be that the file is corrupt or file has no sound or your soundcard have problem. (speaking from experience, my com soundcard had some problems so it affected it. dun think it is soundcard for you. lol)

solution:

1. k-lite mega codec pack
2. VLC player

VLC player can play corrupt file also (maybe better). try it. it may have sound.

There are two things. Either the video does not have sound that you downloaded or your computer just needs to be restarted.
