I'm just asking because I am a law-abiding citizen, but policemen still scare me. When I think of law officers I think of someone who will give me a speeding ticket if I'm barely going over the speed limit (even though I haven't gotten a ticket in years). I don't ever think of them as protecting me. So, it made me curious about other people -- do you see them as people who protect the public or people who are trying to get law abiding citizens if they mess up.

I see MOST OF them ( although a select few seem to posess actual qualities of human beings rather than monsters) as wife-beating donut-eating terrorists with licences to kill. They know they can get away with anything, and they take more than full advantage of that fact. Not only that, but they try to blame it all on the stress when they knew they were entering a stressful position from the get go.

You know... I ALWAYS trusted POLICE (man or woman)! ... Until I moved to Connecticut! I used to live in Maine where the cops were more ur friends than "POLICE FIGURES" and they'd do their jobs yes... but they'd also GET TO KNOW their town and what they have to deal with. Once they "KNOW ur personality" if they have to deal with you they KNOW how to deal with you appropriately. Here in CONNECTICUT the other day I called the cops cuz our neighbors were in a fight w/ppl from the bowling alley and so they came home (live upstairs) and the fight pretty much came to us... we called the cops to HELP "PROTECT AND SERVE" and they said they could only do something if the ppl were caught, of course. But when asked to sit around for a while they said NO, they had "BETTER THINGS TO DO" so i was like wtf? here i was threatened by someone, and the cops wouldn't even give me a few minutes of their time to just sit there and keep a lookout in case they came back... so we took off and went to Maine for the day. I have definately lost faith in todays world of "COPS" i think they just PLAY a game. yeah some are great cops but others... holy cow... hehe...

Personally I do not like police but I realize we need them to keep law and order. One day when the family was going to see my Aunt on a Sunday afternoon and I remember this as a child. My daddy was not drinking and a police officer was talking bad to my daddy who never drank and accused him of drinking when he had pulled into a wrong lane. Another time two police officers beat on my son with black jacks after they pulled him to the floor he was slow to get down on the floor when they asked him to. He had been having an arguement with his wife he had not hit her. She even told them that. The neighbors had called because they were getting loud. They took him in another room to question and shoved him to the floor and beat him with black jacks. He had no way to prove it. Other than the black prints of their boots on the side of wall and they were plain for me to see the next day when I went to see what had happened. I am sorry I feel they abuse their power but I still don't believe they get paid near enough money to do the job they do.
