Because the kind of people they abduct always seem to be the hill billy yokel types who can't afford food and survive off eating things caught in thier bug zappers. Have you ever heard of a wealthy well respected... and well fed person being abducted... Conspiricy? Hmmmm

The outfit that was the lowest bidder for the tractor beams never has worked the bugs out of it. Skinny to about a 38 long is all it'll pick up.

Because they don't bring the full size anti-gravity beams with them. The weight really hinders their gas mileage.
The smaller rays have only enough force to pick up individuals who are lighter than 150lbs.

I was once abducted by two aliens disguised as my friends Billy and Bobby. They took me aboard their ship disguised as Billy's truck. Then they did weird experiment on me, probes and such.
