Yeah - a power outage can really suck...try it for a week in 100 degree weather!!! We did after hurricane Katrina last year. Alot of people went a month or more, those that didn't completely lose their homes that is. We just don't realize how much we take for granted...until it's gone.

We had to get thru an ice storm a couple of years back (6 days without power) and couldn't get to work for the first couple of days-thank goodness I was with the Fire Dept and plenty of work to keep me busy. And thank God for generators! (noisy as they are) Blackouts play havoc with your diet too (I had lost a bunch of weight and started gaining it back during that nasty storm).

try being trapped in a hospital for 2 days with really crappy pain killers that just make you dissy and want to throw up. while your legs are strapped into an annyoing machine that inflates a ballon like thing around your leggs to supposedly prevent blood cloughts.

Have you considered late night television? Infomercials, second-rate reruns, etc. Insomniacs paradise. In a blackout you can be spared all that.

depends who you are with and where you are when the outage occurs! i do not think that they are boring, but if you are alon in the night, they can be scary, especially if the whole town goes dark!

BLACKOUTS CAN ALSO BE A GOOD TIME TO REFLECT ON OUT LIVES AND WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO LIVE. CAN ALSO BE REAL NICE IF WE HAVE SOMEONE TO SHARE WITH. BE GLAD IT'S NOT WINTER. SURE YOU WERE MISSED. I WAS GONE TOO.
