This week is homecoming week for my high school, and tomorrow's dress up day is '80s Day' and I am absolutely clueless in what to wear for tomorrow, and since student council members are required to dress up, I need a quick answer to my question; What does a typical male from the 1980's wear?
Please, don't suggest jumpsuits and large medallions. I want something that is easy to do.

Too bad you dont have any parachute pants and a skin tight muscle T and big Nikki Sixx hair....
In the meantime, khaki pants, a button down shirt -preferably pink....but any light color will do, then hang a light colored sweater up and over the shoulders and tie it...Total 80's Preppy. Oh yeah, and for shoes, you need loafers or whatever kind of slip on leather shoes with NO socks-very Miami Vice.
A really funny thing would be to put a little cornstarch around your nostrils to look like cocaine..VERY big in the 80's. Funny stuff, but maybe not appropriate for high school. Dont listen to me.
Have fun! and say 'totally' and 'rad' and 'bitchin' a lot.

Don Johnson who played Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice.had a chic look during that time. Wear a pastel t shirt with a very nice, expensive suit. Loafers with no socks. His suits were light colored or pastel and he wore his hair combed back.He wore a 5:00 shadow. He seemed to emulate a great French actor Alain Delon. Very sexy, upscale look for a man, he brought men out of polyester and into fashion. For an accessory, wear only a chain link bracelet. No necklaces. Very simple and elegant. If there is a Ferrari you can borrow...that's what he drove. Also, wear a knock down drag out cologne. mmmmmmm... the 80's weren't a total bust!

A baggie dress pants, white or beige, a Light blue crew shirt, tucked in, a dress jacket to match the pants, arms folded, and no socks with cloth shoes, white. ( Miami Vice).

the 80's was a lost generation fashion wise. We were trying to get away from disco and had not yet picked up anything new to replace it. The '90's were similar.

well, i'm a big fan of the 80's...so i can help out.
you got quite amount of choices here. you can go with...
*the wham! look...super short shorts and like a cheesy pastel t-shirts and white tennis shoes.
*the valley girl (in this case...boy) look...super preppy.
*new wave look...that's like emo with hint of drag.
*the cure look....gothish emo (get lots of eyeliner for this one)
*the punk look....check out billy idol.
*miami vice look...yes, that's from the eighties.
my all time favorite...flocks of seagull look. ;)
if all fails, just wear leggins and a big t-shirt that says "frankie says...RELAX." uber eighties.
