Nope.
Liberals are the heros. Conservatives are the villians.
Good always wins!

We use to be a lot more tolerant of our differences, but society was more polite too. Only the ignorant or the badly bred cussed & ranted. I do not know if people can be civilized now.
We are not on verge of Civil War, but it would be more peaceful than Q&A. Besides how would we divide the country, I am claiming the south from Virginia to Florida & across to Texas for the Conservatives. The liberals can have the north & California ( the blue states) just in case.LOL

Jerry Falwell today said that having Hilary as President could be likened to having Lucifer. Democrats are bashing Bash like he is the Devil. Americans are so divided by their political party and the lies that both are telling that, YES, the collapse of our society is a possibility.
This is OUR fault. We feed off the lies and mistruths. Blacks, gays, Jews, MUST be Democrats or they are viciously attacked by their fellows. People like Colin Powell and Connie Rice, are called Uncle Toms. We act like a group that would believe every word in the National Enquirer, what is wrong with us.
We can dissent; we can vote as we please, but why can't we give our elected leaders even a bit of respect.
The work of the country isn't getting done; the Republicans made life misterable when Clinton was in office. He was called every name in the book, his intelligence was berated. Now Bush is there, and EXACTLY the same thing is happening. Are we STUPID as nation.
Is ANYONE trying to hold us together. Believe me there are more serious problems in the world than Bush, Clinton, Gore, etc. Stop the hating, start the thinking. Do we want Civil War again?? What would we gain, what would we lose?

The real issue is why the moderate dems and moderate republicans allow the fringe elements in their parties control the PR for their respective parties.
It seems as if Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter & Bill O'Reilly are viewed as the voice of the right, just as Howard Dean & Barbara Boxer are viewed as the voice of the left.
All of the above are anything but moderate, and do not reflect the views of the majority of thier parties.
What would be really nice is if all the moderates showed up at the polls to vote this year. That's how we should decide on the path this country will be taking in the near future.

We are on the verge of a cultural civil war. No, it's not North v. South. It's not the Coasts v. the Heartland. But it is the left v. the right and the debates are over issues that allow no room for debate. Look at volleyball a few answers above me. She makes up her mind what is or is not a civil right and for her those subjects -- whatever they are -- are uncompromisable. That kind of recalcitrance is why wars are fought.

There will be no civil war. This conflict between the right and the left has been going on forever. The voters have the duty to decide at any given time who is the better choice for them and decide who is in power. The other side will caterwaul but will have to live with the voter decision and give the most effective opposition they can. This is the system of government in a democratic system. The politicians you see at each other throats day to day may even be friends when the camera is off them.

Civil War? I doubt it very highly that the lady in the Caravan with a "W04" sticker on her way home from a PTA meeting will vere over and collide with a Prius with a "War is not the answer" sticker because of an ideological difference.
Americans are waaay to lazy for civil war.
Funny thought though.

Just because libs and cons don't get along, doesn't mean there is going to be a civil war. If this were the case, there would be civil war throughout all the world. It's all just politics. We just need to get rid of the people who take politics to a personal level.

There are two extreme groups that comprise a minority in the world. This minority is very loud and very aggravating to the point where it is able to make itself appear to be the majority. The truth is that this minority is not strong enough to overpower the majority of rational, logical people much like a child is not capable of overpowering its parents by throwing a tantrum, it may aggravate the parents for a few moments, but it will inevitably end up in time out.

I'm willing to work with the other guy (Conservatives) if they are. But I will not compromise my civil rights or the rights of others to do it.
I think that we all can get along if there is compromise. It is deciding on how much compromise each side does.
So basically, yes - we will war before we work together.

If the Neocons stop fostering these categories, then it can happen and in fact it is already happening on many issues, like stem cell research and immigration. Still, in this country, we have the right to agree to disagree. A little more listening and a lot more acting on advice of the other side would help the people leading our current Administration immensely.
