No, you do not need prior military experience to be become a police officer. Find out what your state requirements are to become a law enforcement officer. All states require you to go to college and attend law enforcement courses. You may also be required to attend different courses and training once you are a "recruit" in a law enforcement agency.

no., however it would be easier to become a cop this way. a lot of cops are ex-military because it is a natural progression for their career path
