Unless the pregnancy is endangering your life, or the labor is taking too long without any progress, I don't think OBGYN accepted C-Section requests anymore.

I was told during my childbirth class that they are not supposed to do it by request if there is no health-related issues. For example, just so the baby is born on Christmas day or something. There is actually a law about it (the nurse told me).

If its not medically necessary I don't think they will for a 1st pregnancy. Now if you have already had a c section he might. Now what I want to know is why would anyone voluntarily want a c section? I have had a natural birth and a c section and I would take natural any day.... recovery time is sooooooooooooo much easier with natural.

No. Most Dr's have to have a medical reason behind it, and most insurance companies won't cover it if it was an elected c-section. Why would you want one? I had to have one. My son (he will be 1 tomorrow) went into distress while I was in labor so, there was no choice but a c-section. I was down for 8 weeks afterwards.

look at the answers you are getting to this- why would you want one??
A c section is a major operation cutting through layers and layers of muscle. Its use should be kept for emergencies and situations when the baby can't be born naturally.
Some drs would- but I wouldn't have one in my delivery room...

Umm, if you are really adamant on getting a c-section, the doctor will give you all the information you need to know before hand.

Just know that it can be more dangerous than vaginal birth.

I just suggest that you do all your research before hand.

I just asked my doctor this like 2 months ago and was told that not unless there was a risk to cause it. It is unethical she said! Go Figure. Hope that helps.

I asked a dr. once and he said they won't because it's too risky and a natural birth is so much safer. Trust me, a c-section is much scarier and more painful and harder to recover from.

Why dont you ask your doctor and find out? Every doctor is different. Some will, some won't. It's up to him.
