Ah, this sounds very familiar. My father, who is also 58, gets up an average of 3 times a night to go pee. He asked his doctor about it, who said it is very common for men around this age to have to pee often. It could be an inflamed prostate though. I really recommend getting your prostate checked if you havn't yet done so. All men around this age group should. It's rather unpleasant, but better to have an occational unpleasant exam than to die from prostate cancer. I'm not saying you have prostate cancer, so don't freak out. But please do get that checked out...better safe the sorry! In the meantime though, I recommend cutting off all fluids long before retiring for the night. This should help at least a little bit. Good luck and sleep well!

well, from what I've read nobody is completely certain why we have night erections.....the latest theory seems to be that it has something to do with supplying blood to the penis....but I've never heard of them being uncomfortable..I know that they're non sexual in origin....I would see a doctor...the fact that it's interfering with your sleep isn't good...BTW I'm 57.

Wow! Very impressive, however I think its natural to have erections at night and during sleep. If you are not happy about it go and see your doctor. Your spouse should really be happy.

It's a natural reaction to stop you peeing the bed.
It happens to me when I drink too much before bed.
Cut down on the water intake and it should abate.
Otherwise get up and go to the toilet.
