he will definitely help, he's a beast. just look at the numbers he put up on a pretty weak panthers team. i believe he is one of the better goalies in the league.

between the pipes the canucks will be a TON stronger, any time you get one of the best goalies in the league as an upgrade from a 22 year old kid and an injury prone old man who hasen't proved anything(Auld and Cloutier) you're going to be better in net. My question is, Will the Cancuks be able to back him up defensively now that Jovo, Allen, Brookbank, and Mcarthy are gone. The holes that are on defence are unbelieveable especailly when you replace those guys with Lucas Kraijek, Willie Mitchell and Luck Bordon. Mind you Bordon, and Kraijek will be fantastic eventually but that defence is way to full of holes for me to think that there will be that much of a difference. Not to mention the fact that Salo and Ohlund are incredibly injury prone. That's D. On Offence much of the same story. The canucks lost too much on Offence, Carter and Bert being replaced by Bulis, Chouinard and Pyatt? The holes left in the offence that are now supposed to be filled by rookies and Matt Cooke are too many to think that the canucks will put up enough goals to back up Luongo.
All in all Luongo will solidify the net but they acquired him at the expence of the d and the o. There are too many holes forthe canucks to improve significantly. I say they are lucky if they squeek in the playoffs

It's a tough job going from the team where he was to a team like Vancouver.

It's gonna be a test of his skills - which are good - but even more than that his role on the team. It's a big switch for a goalie, I'd have to say, going from a team that, in any game, the expectation is you're not going to win the game BUT if you do win it it'll probably be thanks to Luongo --- to ---- you're going to be expected to win the game, and at least in the start of the season, it's not going to be Luongo who's going to be the player everybody looks at "to win the game" for them, but rather, it'll be a team effort if they win.

That's gotta be a big switch for any goalie I'd think. I think that Luongo will rise to the challenge - he'll prove that he's worth the $$$ and players Vancouver gave for him - but it's gonna be tough in the beginning I think. Fans should have patience. It'll pay off.

Geez, only one of the top 5 goalies in the world with something to prove (i.e., has not played a playoff game because he was stuck on lousy Cats)...well, duh-ha!

I mean the OIl backed into the playoffs by the slimmest of margins thanx to the Nux bombing out in March and April. I think Luongo can steal enough pts to make the diff.

he will be outstanding. vancouver has never really had a good goalie, that's why they missed the playoffs last season. luongo is used to getting 50 shots a game, vancouver will be a holiday for him.

I think he might help a lot in net, but more importantly, it's the whole shake up of the entire team, and especially trading Bertuzzi. I think it will be a good fresh start.

i dunno much about anything, but what i know is that he's better and more dependable than dan cloutier. sad to see Auld go, i liked him in Vancover. Vancover hasnt had much in the way of great goaltenders, since the days of Mclean, the only thing that remains is how he'll do in the playoffs with his limited playoff expierence in florida. lets hope he doesnt choke like cloutier, having seen him play for canada numourous times, i think he'll do fine.

yeah he's going to help the cancuks, but he can't do everything by himself. there's no defense to help him out back there!
