In short: Eat. Lift. Rest.

Expanded a little bit:

Eat--You likely want to follow your natural instincts on this one, like what a lab rat does when faced with plenty of healthy foods. That is, if your proteins, carbs and fats are equally available, have roughly one-third of each, but slightly more protein than carbs, and slightly more carbs than fats....

Lift--Do some weight or strength training 2-3 times a week so you will put on muscle, which weighs more than fat. There are many *many* ways to do this, but if you want to keep it short, sweet and simple, here is what you do.

Join a gym with some serious weight machines and/or free weights. Tell any trainers you find that you want to work out like a *powerlifter* more or less. For strength, muscle mass and *bulk*.

Then, keep it simple. 2-3 times a week, depending on your busy schedule, you do....

Squats--three sets of three reps,
Bench press--three sets, three reps,
Shoulder (overhead) press--ditto,
Back raises--ditto,
Ab crunches on a machine--ditto,
Lat pulldowns (or seated rows if you have weak shoulders)--ditto,
Bicep curls--ditto,
Tricep curls--ditto,
Calf raises--ditto,
Hamstring curls--ditto.

Three sets of three repetitions each. At about 85-90 percent of the *maximum* weight you can do *once* for each exercise.

It isn't the healthiest way to lift but if you do it right, with a proper spotter and enough weight, you will build muscle mass and bulk, gaining weight.

Rest--Cardio is the enemy of weight. Seriously. The more running, walking, climbing or bike riding you do, the more weight you risk losing.

So your best bet, aside from hitting those weights 2-3 times a week, is to do what the Sumo do:

Eat, then take a nap. Treat every day like Thanksgiving. :)

But seriously, the more you rest, the more your muscles will recover from your weight lifting and the more they will grow. They grow as a part of *healing* from your exercise.

Still, yeah, the idea is, aside from your lifting, you do as little as you can get away with.

Not that this is healthy, but hey....whatever works, right?

Eat like a pig several times a day. Each time lay down and take a nap.
