As an artist, probably not. If you look up to his (perceived) persona, there might be a problem.
Brian Warner (aka: Marilyn Mansion) set out to create a musical super star that would be shocking, controversial, and appear to base his musical ideologies on Sex, drugs and Satanism.
Does Mr. Warner probably believe in any of this or is this just a stage persona? I would most likely believe it's just a put on to stir up controversy and nothing more than just a ploy to direct people's attention to his true focal point, which is his music. Some of the other similar musical artist that have had similar success while using the same stage persona's are, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Ronnie James Dio and various other musical artist.
Does Marilyn Manson want young kids to look to him as a role model? I saw an MTV interview conducted by Kurt Loader several years back, when Manson was just getting started out as a main streem artist under Trent Reznor's Nothing Label, and when asked about being a role model, he replied "absolutely not! I've never intentended to be anyone's role model and I'd suggest you look elsewhere if that's what your looking for."
If you're looking for a role model, don't look to those that are in the public eye (sports stars, musicians, TV and movie stars) so much. Look to the people that have helped you grow in life, the people that made you believe in being a better person. How about a teacher, big brother/sister, mentor or parent. That's were you'll find the real heros in life.
Not at some drug induced rock concert!
FYI: I currently have 3 Marily Manson CDs in my personel music collection.

Aside from a tune or two, I'm not much of a fan of Marilyn Manson's music.
That being said, I think he is a fantastic person to look up to. Manson obviously has a great head for business. Like Alice Cooper and Kiss before him, he knows the value of shock and has capitalized on it. His art, while disgusting to some and comic to others, is always thought provoking and interesting. He has found a way to do what he loves and make money at it, a goal that we all share. He also has enough talent to keep himself in the news...I don't hear any churches screaming about Gwar, do you?
If you do some research and read interviews he has granted, you will discover that at his core Marilyn Manson is a traditionalist with traditionalist values.

I don't think kids should look up to any rock star, unless they're exceptionally gifted musicians. They're simply entertainers. Manson isn't a bad person if you see him as an entertainer. His image isn't "positive" in a traditional sense, but he does bring an excellent spectacle to rock n roll. Which is sorely lacking in the modern rock radio dept.
Stop taking rock musicians so seriousley, folks! They work for the music industry, which is no different than any other business. Manson has a marketing plan, an image, a brand name that he markets himself to.
In a nutshell. No.

Definetely NOT! He is a great guy. Buy his book!
He was brought up going to Catholic School and did not agree with it, that does not make him a bad person!!
His music is intense and you do not have to LOOK UP TO HIM to listen or believe in his music. I am 38 and WILL NOT miss him when he comes back in concert. I will make it a fact to be sitting in the front row.
The only people that will tell you he is a BAD guy are the people who do not have the will to believe in anything other than the crap they were taught their whole lives and the unwillingness of listening to or being near something new. His music makes ALOT of sense and he is not bad.
He is actually CORRECT in alot of what he is saying.
I am the first, to stick up for him.
Do what you will, but MM is awesome, dont let anyone downtalk what you want to listen to or believe in!I also agree with Steel Madison, he is very intelligent and artistic, and if you listen to his songs, you will notice that all of his remakes are MUCH better than the original artists who sing them. He makes each song different and sings it in his own UNIQUE way, I love that.

Well, I guess it all depends on what qualities you are looking up to. My best friend mandy, which is relatively normal, LOVES marilyn manson but there's things that she doesn't agree with. So, I would say it's your call.........the most important thing is what makes you happy and if it's a positive influence to you then go for it.

of path not. many father and mom believe that he's a foul function sort through way he outfits, the lyrical content textile of his music and so on. they have even had 'witch-hunts' for him in the u . s . a . through fact they blamed him for a teenage suicide. in my view, i like Manson. His music is defining and unique. in case you have study his autobiography, you will understand that he got here from an exceptionally repressed formative years the place he skilled many darkish issues at a very youthful age, and he got here out of that and used it as proposal for his music and artwork. Manson has on no account informed any single one in all his followers to do something severe e.g. rebellion, devote suicide, destroy the regulation. His music has its very own message, and followers will interpret that how they are going to. in terms of creativity and as a fulfillment tale, i think of Manson is a huge guy or woman to seem as much as.

i think he is different and he does things for shock value. I like some of his music but i wouldn't want my child looking up to him. But in fairness to him I don't know allot about him i do think he gets a bad rap just because of the way he looks.

No! He isn't! He's been falsely accused of all sorts of things that weren't even his fault. If you care enough to learn more about him, you'd see just how human he actually is, and how much you can learn from him. He's an intelligent person with a good sense of humor, even though a lot of people take him seriously when they shouldn't and vice versa.

I myself wouldn't look up to anybody who plays in a band. If you like his music well than get into it and enjoy it for it will get tired after awhile and you'll go on to the next one.
your parents , teachers, and hero's are to be looked up on.
