your baby should still get most of his nutrition from his formula or breast milk but it is ok to start him on a little rice baby cereal. this will help he feel more satisfied. a couple teaspoons a couple times a day should be enough to start with.then in a few weeks you can start giving baby food (veggies) first . and then fruit. make sure you introduce veggies first or he will only want fruit.

I have a 6 month old girl. She is 18lbs and 26 inches. Besides breastmilk and formula, I feed my baby cereal (she favors the rice one) and baby foods 1 and 2. My pedatrician gave me the OK to do so. But she said to introduce each new food once a week so you will be able to see if she has an allergic reaction to one of them. At first I fed her once a day, now twice, eventually 3 times like for breakfast, lunch, dinner like us. I also give her a little water to help wash down the food. Good luck :)

Start introducing one new food a week cereal, then veggies stage 1, and then fruit. After you know your child handles the food thing have them eat 2 times a day cereal in morning and a veggie or fruit in evening. Around 8 months I would add another feeding around lunch time. Thicken the food as your childs ability to eat gets better. You can introduce meats and yogurt at 8 months and solid foods between 10 and 11 months start with cheerios or Gerber fruit puffs.

ok, what length can? the three ounce? The 6 ounce? The 12 ounce? there's a huge vast difference. between them. A 12 ounce will feed all 3 of our cats for the completed day. A 5 or 6 ounce can will feed 2 for many the day, although the third will choose better nutrition. a three ounce can is sucked up by one cat and they are able to attempt this back contained in the evening.

I read that it should be meal - snack- meal - snack - meal, but mine used to skip a snack, so he used to have his rice cereal in the morning, then his veggies for lunch, fruits after that and before he went to bed he'd have some rice cereal. Each baby is different. Just ask your pediatrician, and this should help. Also try the following site:

Good luck

start with veggies (if you haven't started cereal do that first)
If you start with fruits they may get used to the sweet taste and refuse veggies.
I would only feed him a couple meals a day, or three (breakfast, lunch, supper) But make sure you are still giving him formula or breastmilk. That should still be the bulk of his nutrition, you are only introducing solids right now.

You should talk to the pediatrician but most 6 month olds can eat jar foods and baby cereal along with breast milk or formula. Jar foods should be fruit and vegetables. No solid foods or chunky foods! I always gave cereal for breakfast fruit and veggies for lunch and dinner. You really need to talk to your pediatrician! All babies are different!

as a start let him just taste fruit and baby cereal twice a day. Ask the paediatric for more information.

I would start with just a couple a day...and try baby cereal...then start adding baby fruit in a month or so...see how he does
