Unfortunately it all depends on if the insurance covers it, and if your doc thinks you need the test.

with my first daughter (who's one now) we had 5 ultrasounds. We went thru a fertility clinic and I basically got 1 at 5, 7, 9 11 and 22 weeks. THe 22 weeks was the standard one but the other 4 were to make sure we had a growing baby inside me.

Many people try to put fears into you that more ultrasounds will harm fetus. But theirs no proof to what # is too much. Just like drinking alcohol. In that case no alcohol is better than some

Do NOT get more than are prescribed by your doctor. while it is the safest diagnostic imaging test for pregnant women, it is still radiation. They use the same technology to kill tumors. Recent studies on mice showed that too many ultrasounds caused some brain cells to not develop properly, causing motor skill deficiency. And by all means avoid those high resolution 4D ones that you pay out of pocket for. it is much too strong. Most doctors do only one or two ultrasounds on a healthy pregnancy, others do more just to rack up the bills for the insurance companies. You have to right to question the reasons for the tests--don't just get them. If there are problems suspected and you feel the doctor has a genuine concern about the baby's health, then get the test, but don't ask for or pay for unnecessary ones.

You could have one everyday if you want. However here they have moved it up to 3, one in the first trimester, one between 16-22 weeks and one around 28 weeks. The one at 28 weeks is a 3d/4d one. You can pay to have a 3d/4d one they are anywhere from $60 for a sex check to $400+ for a dvd set to music and photographs in a book. You can also get a regular one for around $60-100.

My cousin is an ultrasound tech, so I have as many as I want!

Most doctor's will give you one around 12 weeks then again around 24 weeks. You can go to an office that specializes in 3D/4D ultrasounds and have one done there. You'll have to pay for it, but it may be worth it.

Ultrasound is non invasive, and gives off no radiation, or anything that can hurt a fetus, so it can be used a many times as nessary. Some doctors do it once a month just for checking growth

They give u one when u first go to the doc. Then u get anther one a few months later to check the growth of the baby. Then they might give u a third one in your eigth month to check the size again. You may get more if there is a problem with your pregnacy or even if you can't feel the baby moving. They will check to make sure that he/she is ok

well i'm 9 weeks pregnant and have already had 2 one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks just to make sure that both my babies were growing ok. the dr said we'd do as many as necessary throughout the pregnancy.

It depends on how often it's necessary. Most insurance companies only pay for 1 or 2, but if the Dr decides it's medically necessary, they'll pay for additional ones.
