I have a 94 Civic. When the A/C is on sometimes I feel the compressor kick off and then back on. I can tell because I can hear it and feel it in the power of the car. So, today I turned it on, and I heard it kick off and felt hot air blow out of the vents while the A/C button was still engaged. I push the A/C button off then again. The air start blowing cold then a couple of minutes later it the compressor kicks off and the air is hot again!Does any one know what's happening? Thanks

the refrigerant system is a r-134 system and is either low on freon or the low pressure cycle switch has gone bad... we run into the cycle switch on r-134 systems all the time at my shop.. all it takes to check system out is a set of gauges and see if system has pressure in it
(pressure is freon in a gas state)' if it has pressure then use a jumper wire on the low side pressure cycle switch and see if the compressor kicks on.. if so replace low pressure cycle switch...

it might be time for a change in freon however if it is as old as 94 you may have to replace the acumilator/drier and upgrade to 134a instead of r-12 freon the "change" does not cost much but upgrading parts might check local laws and prices you can still get r-12 but it costs about $60.00/can and you are looking at about 2-2 1/2 cans for the system

till you have a series of gauges, or charging manifold as that is referred to as, you do no longer want to clutter with the severe facet. while you're making use of a recharege kit you may have a setting up for the low facet. that is all you have an activity in. connect the setting up to the setting up on the compressor low facet. do no longer open the valve on the canister. start up the engine at idle, turn a/c on severe, open all residing house windows. Slowly open the cost valve on the canister, do no longer exceed 50 psi. enable it cost with canister upright. because it costs the stress will bypass DOWN. Slowly open the valve, do no longer exceed 50 psi. quit charging at approximately 30 psi. in case you run out of refrigerant you have gotten a leak. If no leak you will choose extra refrigerant.

it could be locking up on you... i dont think it would be freon... because it would never run cold... i think you might need to see if you have a loose connection or just replace the ac compressor... this might have already been said... sorry for the repetition.
