Do the work and learn the material as the class load increases. That way, studying before a test is just review instead of cramming. Stop studying at a decent hour night before test, get up a little extra early to do some light exercise and clear your head. Eat lightly before the test.
For some people, especially in some subjects, group studying works well for quizzing, such as with organic chem and other rote material, or ideating, like for law or courses intended to make you think.
Read the material that coincides with the lecture material before the lecture, not after, so that you are familiar with the material and you can pick up extra material and nuances from the lecture and enjoy it. Take notes during lectures, but not so that you miss the lecture itself - learn or develop your own shorthand to facilitate that. Recopy or type up your notes the evening after the lecture - this helps to fix it in your mind.
If you study to music, make sure it's something that "Puts you in the zone" to concentrate and focus on the material, rather than entertain you. I liked a lot of music, but usually studied to Mozart because that put me in the zone. Always arrange or select your environment to facilitate the studying - for some that is comfort, for some it is something else. What ever works for you.
I personally liked to get up in very early morning before a testand go over my notes one more time, then stop with enough time to do the exercise and grab breakfast, but that doesn't work for everyone.

Never wait until the last minute to study for a test. Take time each day to spend a little time to prepare for a test.
Never be afraid to ask a teacher for help if you are confused about a particular topic.
Always use your computer to type a paper or at least until the final draft if the teacher requires it being handwritten. It will allow you to make changes in the paper.
Never be afraid to ask a question in class. No question is stupid when it comes to understanding the material better.
Get pleanty of sleep the night before a test.
Find a passion in school and get involved. There are many opportunities in high school to get involved even on a small level.
If your notes are messy, do not be afraid to rewrite them.
Never stop reading books on your own.
Take advantage of study hall
Pay attention during movies shown in class. They can lead to a better understanding of the class materials.
Never miss the small details during a class session. What may seem small might be an important point in an upcoming test.

Well the only thing you can do is concentrate my teachers weren't the most enthusiastic but all you can do is try your hardest think about taking a weekend to study a week or days in advance for a test and finish things days before they are due gives you more time to study and ask questions it can't hurt to ask whether it is stupid or not you won't ever get the material if you don't ask a question!!

First off,you need to concentrate. Listen to classical music or silence when you study. You can do it, kid. This is your first year of HS. It is said, by many people, that it can either be your best year, or your worst. You can make it your best year by being you. Don't stay up late, don't get involved with: Drugs, sex, smoking, bad friends, lying to rents, etc. Be honest, be you. You can do it. I am gonna say one thing to you: YOU CAN DO IT. it's not that hard to be an honor student. all ya gotta do is be patient, persistant, and never give up. Good luck, I am rooting for you. If you need any other advise or anything, email me or something.

I think you should study HARD. 9th grade isnt; hard . The hard part is that transition to being in a new school yet again. Trust me be it will be challenging at times but 9th grades will be a breeze. But don't slip up what you do now can be a deciding factor in school(colleges). Remember 9-12 grades will be avereged up as a whole even one "F" looks bad on your transcript.

--concentrate in class
--possibly bring a sweater cause your mind wanders when you're cold. (i am literally freezing in my bio class and it makes me not be able to concetrate
--- go to sleep EARLY - dannnggg.... that helps so much. just going to sleep early and waking up refreshed - get like at least 8hours!! you'll be greatfull and you will thank yourself
---DO YOUR HOMEWORK. that helps a lot
--study for tests!!!!! thats what sucks the most about grades and stuff. you can get a's on your homework but that won't help you if you get like a c on a major grade test. Bad test grades bring down your average by A LOT -----but yeah just try your hardest and just know that you're studying hard and you're gonna be fine.
remember - don't screw up your freshamn year - this is your oppurtunity to step up and really keep everything in line - get used to everything and how much you can get done is this amount of time. really 9th is the easiest year so take advantage of it - especially study hall

Time management.....you have to make a time management table. You can't spend all of your time studying because your brain needs rest also to absorb new lessons. Divide your time between studies and play to relax your brain. During free-time review the new lesson you have so that when an exam or quiz comes you are prepared. Always remember that if others were able to make it, then you can make it too. You also, need concentration and dedication.

eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, and try your best at everything you do. focus, take notes when necessary, and ask questions if you're confused - that's what teachers are for. develop good studying habits..i.e. set aside a certain amount of time everyday after school to study and read over notes...make note cards for tests, etc....and try not to get distracted by anything, b/c high school is full of distractions.
