Let me ask you this. Why follow any religion? I don't know any living person that was alive when all these religions came to exist. I was raised Roman Catholic. My mother, God rest her soul, died believing it was the only True religion. And see that's where the problem lies with all of you religious types. Your religion is based on a series of beliefs that none of you where witness to. The problem with beliefs is that they are much harder to change than ideas.
I've studied many religions and I choose to believe that there is a God, the universe is not a cosmic mistake, if I was God I would definitely create a being in my image (Jesus, Allah, Buddha take your pick) so that I could understand what my creations experience, and yes I also believe that some where out there exists another planet that supports life. Other wise it would be a hell of a waste of space.
That's why I don't follow islam or any other religion. I just choose to believe that God exists and I try to live my life the best that I can.

Shouldn't the question be why do people like yourself misunderstand the writings in the Quoran and apply only the rationale of children? Do you not read Islamic scholars and how they portent that Islam is not the only faith of God and that most Islamic scholars accept Christians as brother on the road to enlightenment?
If you believe the writings then you would believe that even the sight of God would kill you, and therefore can never be truly understood by man. So what makes you arrogant enough to believe you know God's will and direction? That you have some special connection that allows you to see into the heart of God and know his will?
I hope you see the absolute arrogance in such a flawed thought process. Study true Islamic teachings more and you will find peace and not hatred. God teaches love, peace, faith... not bigotry, arrogance, egotism, and covetousness.
Be at peace and enjoy the ride in life. One day a christian may save your life... or if you think this way... maybe not... consider this

Here a story. A good man died and went to heaven.
An angel showed him around heaven and at one stop, he saw a man in deep meditation and asked who's dat?
Angel : Dat's a grateful Buddhist in peaceful meditation, he is in nirvana.
At every stop, there were happy and peaceful people, Hindus, Jews, Sikhs etc.
Last stop, he saw an angry man kicking the ground and cursing..
Who's Dat? Why is this man so angry? This is heaven already.
Angel (deep sign)...Alas, dat's Muslim been here for 100 yrs stil waiting for his Prophet.
There's no moral of the story but just an idea how I feel about Muslims, you had your golden era when the Caliphs ruled, now you are fragmented, leaderless and lost with your own fundamentals.
I wont follow Islam, you guys are heading the wrong direction back in history and into barbarians. Your spello is proof of that!!!

You are misinformed about Christianity -
God calls Jesus His son in the gospels:
"And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3 16-17; and Mark 1-11)
"While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him." (Matthew 17 4-6; Luke 9-35)
It was the same person on the cross as all the gospels testify. Each of the four gospels has an account of Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection.
I like the Christian message of love - even to loving your enemies, as Jesus said we should. I'll stay a Christian.

I believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He did die on the cross, however you are entitled to your own beliefs and opinions. We are all free to believe in whatever religion we want...or none at all, but please remember that what you feel is right for you, may not be right for someone else...or the rest of the world.

The truth and maturity of any religion is directly proportional to its concept of the infinite personality of God and to its grasp of the absolute unity of Deity.

Many Christians will quickly claim you're wrong in your assumptions. Nevertheless, we Americans have the liberty to choose who, how, or what we wish to worship. It can be the yellow dog down in the neighborhood so long as we don't bring harm to our neighbor.
Think about it.

I don't know much about Islam, and so I don't really know what you mean by 'he wasn't even on the cross', but I hope someday you learn more about Christianity.
