My sons sat on my new microfiber couch with an open sharpee then one struck out at the other leaving a smudge and a long stripe of black. After I got done thrashing about angrily, I remembered I had bought a 'tide stain stick'. I used it liberally, then scrubbed with a bristle brush. getting it fresh helps. If you don't have one handy NOW, you can try ammonia. I've had luck with that. You can wash but do not dry (in dryer) until the stain is out other wise you set it forever. I worked in a grocery store years and years ago and used an ink filled price gun. when we changed the prices, I had a product to erase the prices stank of ammonia. I've used it on my hands in an emergency to get a huge ink stain off too. (not the best for soft smooth hands!) good luck.

Hairspray!
This works every time for me. I 'douse' the stain in hairspray and leave on for about 15 minutes. Then, I throw the pants in a hot wash (by itself preferably). Depending on how old the stain is it may or may not come out. I always do it asap and it works everytime!

If you do manage to get it out e-mail me. I am a starving lawyer and will help you sue the company for falsly advertising their marker a "permanent".

Nail polish remover. I know that this works. I got marker out of white cotton by using nail polish remover.

Hair spray...it sounds crazy but I've used that many times as a pre-treater and it works every time. By the way, it doesn't matter what type of hair spray, any kind around the house will work.

Don't think it is possible. If you could, it wouldn't be a permanent marker.

Have you tried that new Tide pen? I've seen it take out oil and regular pen ink.
