Our theme is to make some connections between mccarthyism and the story lottery by shirley jackson.
How does this two relate?

Well, my thoughts on this? Both McCarthyism and "The Lottery" deal with the issues of someone being a scapegoat. Also, you may want to address the issues of something evil (the lottery "tradition", or McCarthy's vigilante effort to destroy people who didn't think the way he did) vs. good. Also, both McCarthyism and "The Lottery" deal with prejudice and hypocrisy.
Sorry-you'll have to do the analysis of these issues, but it should make for a quite interesting essay!
