From what I can remember:
Minerals are naturally occuring substances found in the earth's crust.
I think Rock are made from minerals. (Please check me)

Rocks are made in three ways:
Igneous (fire) Rocks that are composed by heating.
Metamorphic - Rocks that are created be heat and pressure.
Sedimentary - Rocks that are created by pressure.

You may be able to search on some of the above terms.
Marble is a metamorphic rock. and can be used in countertops and decor.

Graphite is used in pencil leads.
Gneiss is a metamorphic rock. I don't know its use.

That's about all I can remember

All rocks are made of 2 or more minerals, but minerals are not made of rocks.

mountain - huge, giant hunk of rock that is still attached to the earth's crust, doesn't move, tall
boulder - large, taller than a person
rock - large, you could get your arms around it or a bit smaller but it is usually jagged, broken off a bigger piece of rock
river rock - round rocks that are along the edge & at the bottom of fast-flowing rivers
stone - medium, you could hold it in two hands
pebble - small, you can hold it with two fingers, could get stuck in your shoe, usually rounded
sand - made up of tiny pieces of rock, grains of sand
grain - tiny, like a grain of rice or smaller, often found on a beach
dust - really fine powder that is mixed in with sand or soil
speck - as in a speck of dirt

A mineral is the same all the way through. That is one reason we speak of a sample or a specimen rather than a rock.
There are about 3000 known minerals on earth.
All rocks are made up of 2 or more of these minerals

Stone for totally different to modern day shop fronts, head stone.
No one knows for sure how rock from. The truth is that no one knows for sure though there are some pretty good guesses.

A mineral is something on the chemical level that is considered inorganic. Carbon is considered organic, iron is inorganic. Inorganic just means not organic. Minerals can go together to form rocks. Rocks can also be combination of other elements compressed together until it solidifies. Coquina rock is comprised of compressed bits of things like seashells and ocean coral. Granite rock is made of minerals compressed together and heated by the planet's interior heat.
A rock quarry provides certain types of rocks for use in cement mixtures. Concrete itself is a mixture of cement and what is called an aggregate. The aggregate is usually small pebbles or crushed rocks.

You need to look this up in your text book. Because rocks can form in at least three different ways: Sedimentary, Igneous, and Metamorphic. The details of which should be contained in your text book. Come on now - crack that cover!
