I'm not sure what size car tyre you have, but Hen and Chicks grow well in old boots and just about anything else. Mine have lived through many winters. Plants that are blooming now and are perennial are asters, rudbeckias, chrysanthemums, purple cone flowers, ground cover roses, clematis, catmint, gauras, sedum - Autumn Joy and hollyhocks (very tall). Thats all I can think of right now. Best of luck!

Mums. They are out in full force now at Walmart, Kmart, grocery stores and they come in an array of colors from deep maroon to bright yellow, purple and they are beautiful. They tolerate the cold well and I am told they will come up next year again.
