I am a industrial designer and Iead a materials class in the University. Currently, we are working on a proyect that requires the bending of an Acrylic piece... (The solid Acrylic that you use for your aquariums, etc...). Thanks for your time.

Please include what kind of tools are needed to bend it, time required in the process, etc... Thank you, again :-)

The previous answer of using a hot air blower is correct. You have to heat the piece to bend then hold or brace it in place once you have it where you want it so it can cool and retain it's shape. This will work with the plexi glass type of acrylic and will also work for the stuff they make the plastic barrels and buckets out of also. Slow even heat is more effective than quick hot heat so it will take some time getting the hang of it.

Heat is the answer. Very carefully. Use a hot air blower for your source of heat, hold pressure in the directions of bend and be patient. Only way I know.
