U can try this few thing 1st.U open the pc first.I means u check whether the cd-rom is 100% connected with power supply and ide cable. So,u need pull the the power supply cable and ide cable again. And then put again at normal place. And then reboot ur pc.and other solution is u try to control panel->Administrative Tools->computer management. And then click storage see whether the cd-rom is have or not.If yes,u right click and enable it.
Or u go my computer icon at dekstop and then right click it and go propertis->hardware->device manager.Check at dvd.cd rom driver is available or not.If yes, check whether is enable or disable.Make sure is enable. If still cant,u try to test to another computer with ur cd-rom.I means install ur cd-rom to another pc.If can,it means ur ide or motherboard got problem.

Cd Drive Not Opening

You need a new CD drive. They are very inexpensive now however. You can buy a DVD drive (which also reads CDs) for around $30. Spend just $10 more and you can get CD Writer that also has DVD reading capability. Spend around $50 and you can replace it with a DVD writer drive that can also read CDs.

I suggest you purchase one at a local computer store like CompUSA so it's easy to return if necessary, but if you really want to save money, go to Newegg.com - they have unbelievable low prices and great service.

However, there is one other possibility. Since the CD drive light is not coming on, it could be that the power connector to the drive is loose, so you might want to try reconnecting that before deciding to buy a replacement drive.

I've had a similar problem with my HP. Try rebooting, and just before the OS kicks in, try and eject the CD, once your OS has booted, reboot the machine again with the drive empty. Try putting a music CD into the drive and try to play, and again try and eject the CD. This worked for me and i haven't had a problem since! If it doesn't have you tried to roll back the driver? Re-install it? Or system restore? Hope this helps

Restart.

CD rom drives are very easy to replace anyway. Don't get a new computer. THat's ridiculous.

Try this, shud down d computer and open the cover. Unplug the power cord (line with 4 wires) and put on d computer, as u put it on, plug bac in the cord, cd rom light may come on and stuff. When u see this, take off yur computer and put it bac as normal and shud respond. If nothing then u need a new cd rom. Laterz.

Power down, open the case and unplug/replug the power to the CD drive, then restart. If it still doesn't work it's probably dead.

Reboot. If that doesn't work, open the drive completely (take it out and take out the screws), then remount the tray.

Check the connections on the drive inside the case. It is possible one came loose.
