Actually, we are voting. It's between the 2. As for education. Spamalot is nothing but a comedy. Stupid comedy, at that. This is a man who only does drama. Plus, MUSICAL, isn't it supposed to have good MUSIC? Wicked has an amazing score.

Geez, people. I am not an actor. I'm a dedicated musician. Theatre is something new. But as for my knowledge of musical theatre...please. I've been obsessed with Broadway for years. Wicked does have a good score, that is my OPINION. As is what you all say.

Frankly, I don't know that either is good fare for high school students. "Spamalot" depends on some sort of knowledge of show business history and English comedy, both of which you seem to have surprisingly little knowledge of or interest in for a theatre student. I enjoyed it, but am the first to admit that for non-Python fans, it probably doesn't offers a lot.
"Wicked" is lowest-common-denominator pap, with a mediocre score (no amount of power ballads can make up for the hollowness at its core) and book that badly summarizes the better orginal material.
I can't imagine what you should see instead of "Spamalot." The best shows currently on Broadway -- "The Drowsy Chaperone," "Jersey Boys," "Spelling Bee," and "Avenue Q" are all either selling out or over your head.
Develop a knowledge of musical theatre history and have some respect for the theatre before you dump on a show created by those with far more talent than you.
If you want to see "Wicked," make a coherent and adult case for it; something beyond "'Spamalot' sucks and 'Wicked' has an awesome score!" Tell your teacher why it's more in your interest to see the latterl why it's a worthier show and more likely to further your education.

You might learn a lot from Spamalot. Comedy is just as difficult an art (sometimes more difficult) as drama. My advice: lighten up, go see Spamalot, enjoy yourself.

Without knowing at all what either is about I have a suggestion,,,but first I pretty much agree with trollhair.
The field trip has a purpose, and I have to bet it isn't to entertain you, or others, but to educate you. The fact that either may be entertaining is irrelevant; however the content and context of the directors choice may be designed to actually improve your evolution in whatever it is you're doing in his group.

Take charge and take a class vote, when the director sees your desire and open heart to what you want, if that does not work, try offering a butt load of money, that always works for some reason.

Sounds as though it just comes down to matters of personal taste. Personally, I wouldn't go across the street to see either of those shows, but I know people who have enjoyed both immensely.
