I think people don't understand how much joy there is in being grateful. When we focus on all the good things in our lives, on all the nice things other people do for us, on all the wonderful things we can do, we choose to see life in a positive light, making it easier to weather the bad times because we don't let ourselves dwell on these. Maybe we can even be grateful for what the bad times teach us. An attitude of gratitude really makes life more worthwhile than dwelling on hurts and disappointments and failures and offenses and things we can't control. It may sound sappy, but all we can really control in this world is our own actions and attitude. I've learned that a little gratitude goes a long way towards making my life much more pleasant, even if other people around me don't act this way. In the end, it serves my own self-interests better than being greedy and demanding ever would.

we are all born selfish in some way...you don't have to teach young children how to be bad and greedy...you have to teach them how to be good...and if their parents didn't teach that to them then it'll stick and they think they can get whatever and they become ungratful...or maybe something is just going on in there life that they didn't notice.

The work ethic that our parents and grandparents and great grandparents had is no longer existent. Everyone wants everything handed to them. Therefore, they think that they deserve everything without any of the effort. It has become very sad.
