What is it that the terrorist hate about us Americans? I keep hearing they hate our way of life and our freedoms. I guess by putting a ban on all liquids carried on airplanes on August 10th, we detered any possible ummm... shampoo spills on airplanes. Oh but good thing we are now allowed to carry our toiletries on airplanes again... as long as they are no more than 3 oz and fit in a ziplock bag. Guess I gotta throw away my 3.2 oz mouthwash then. Well if it makes us safer then why not right, because I can't tell wether it's shampoo or chloride, even though it smells like shampoo, looks like shampoo and feels like shampoo. Finally i can travel and not have to worry about buying the essential toiletries at my final destination, I will now have a 3 oz bottle that would probably last no more than a day, damn, guess that backfired. Take that terrorists, we are giving up some of our ways of life and taking some incoveniences for the sake of the War On Terror.

Why do terrorists hate America? The list is long. We interfer with domestic politics as we did in the Philippines by supporting Marcos and his corrupt regime. We supported the Shah of Iran while he raped and plundered, filled his bank account at the expense of the Iranians. We used the Hmong people of Laos as mercenaries and when we put our tails between our legs and retreat, we left them to be slaughtered by the Laotians. We supported Ngo Dien Diem in Vietnam and his sister-in-law, the infamous Madame Ngu and help him fill his pockets and when he began to be too strong, we assassinated him, as well as Allende and we tried for Castro...We supported Chiang Kai Shek and gave several billion dollars to supply his army and turned our backs on Mao Tse Tung, much to our belated regret.We also turned our backs on Ho Chi Minh when in 1945 he applied to us for support of their independence, but we chose to support the French in their attempt to re-colonize Vietnam.And the hits keep on coming. I live in China and the only restrictions we have on travel are either flammables or aerosols...but remember this is a harsh communist regime. We often joke that it is easier to live and travel in China than it is to visit the US. If Americans are so terrorist-conscious, then the restrictions must be important....and as a traveler, you should regard these precautions for your safety. The war on terror will cease when we stop trying to control others and let them sort out their own problems. Nothing we have done since the end of the Second World War has had any measurable effect...remember the old domino theory....our futile attempts to install democratic processes on other nations...and a few places such as Panama have done better since we left.

Terrorists will never win, nor will they ever lose. They are the weathermen of the military world. They never have to be right. They only have to get up, and drop useless thoughtless bombs on working people day in, and day out. Can't help you with the shampoo, except to suggest you save some pocket money (not currently banned on any flight) and buy some when you get where you're going.
