Unions are not necessarily a bad thing. Historicly, unions served a good purpose in making sure the workers were treated fairly, given a safe work environment, and a fair wage.

Due to the successes of the union, some of their purposes have been replaced by laws and federal organizations (like OSHA). There are some companies that do not treat their employees fairly, attempt to force the laborers to work under duress, or offer little to no money for what they do. Not all companies are so bad as to need a union- and not all companies are so good as to not need one.

Been there, done that too- but your question is as undereducated as the people you imply support unions. I support unions- I just dont support them giving my union money to a political party- Democrat, Republican, or Other.

Unions have a lot to do with the progression of labour laws everywhere and in all sectors.

Unions protect hard workers from getting the bum end of the stick. Educated or not, why should someone else get the promotion of a hard worker just because he had a few more initials behind his name if he puts on his coat at 15 minutes to the end of the day and job jumps like he changes underwear?

I would say that union supporters are bullied into their decisions. That is the way they work. And when decision time comes, the union has the last say and most times it is not in the best interest of the workers but lines the pockets of the as you say "thugs"

I was fired by a company without cause after busting my hump for 6 years. I now make 3 times the wages in a union job. I'll never get fired without cause AGAIN!

As i see it (In my opinion) all unions do is protect people from the punishments they would receive for not doing their job. I am not saying all union workers are lazy, but come on, if someone deserves to be fired, then they deserve to be fired.
