I heard that their is a site for people to stay in a town they are close to as they are traveling and they find online people that will let them stay free for the few nights.

I don't know, but I definitely wouldn't try it. Not that I'm saying you can't trust people, but there are a lot of people that would take advantage of that cool website to get at easy targets. Instead why don't you get a hold of a church and ask if they have a bed or something you can perhaps sleep on overnight. It may not be as comfortable as a couch in a home but it's definitely a lot safer.

Unless you have a way of checking on the validity of this as to who or what org. sets this up and are they certified or have lists available of former occupants you could contact as to their experience staying with someone they do't know, I would opt to take the safe "out" and stay at an inexpensive motel. Used to be the YWCA OR YWMA had inexpensive rooms to rent.
One hates to be distrustful but society what it is today, you have no way of knowing if these people are safe. I am inclined to think so but who knows? marlyne B

WOW ! don't tell me you would fall for something like that PLEASE ! It's like an accident or worse waiting to happen.
Save up to go on that trip until you can afford a motel; or take a friend and you can switch off driving while the other naps.
