Depends on the size of the organisation. Small things like community groups, football teams etc do not need experience.

The Treasurers role is to keep track of all the money and report back to the committe and organisation.

This often excludes raising funds and having to go and buy stuff etc - they are general organisational duties.

A treasurer budgets the money the organization has in its account. They also usually write the checks to pay for things because not all committee members may have the authority to do this.

A treasurer is like the accountant for the group. He (or she) keeps track of assets and expenditures and then reports this information at the meeting or makes it available in a report. Depending on the group, there may or may not be any requirements.

It depends on the size of the organization. Smaller groups require you keep record of expenses, income, donations, withdraws, deposits, etc.

Larger groups require more complex book keeping where you may have several accounts to keep record of.

You should probably start with a small group if this is your first time.
