Is music something unique to man that comes from free will or was it something that God gave us as a gift?

Music is created by existing. Birdsong, trees blowing in the wind, etc.
Man created no music... just enhanced it using the tools we have. As for God... guess that depends on your religion doesn't it?

People always say that the Angels in Heaven sing....but that it simply NOT true.
Angels Might Not Sing.
There is a great deal of singing in the Bible. The Psalms mention singing often. Mark 14:26 and Matthew 26:30 record a time when Jesus and His apostles sang. The heavens and mountains “cry out” or “sing” in Isaiah 49:13, and even trees “sing” or “rejoice” in 1 Chronicles 16:33. (Note: different Hebrew words—ranan and rinnah—are used for the “singing” of inanimate objects, instead of shiyr and zamar—the words normally used for human singing in the Old Testament.)
Although there is a lot of singing going on, it is interesting that the Bible never states that angels sing. Yes, many Christmas songs have lyrics indicating that the angels sang when Jesus was born—and we suspect that angels have the ability to sing. Still, it is interesting that the Bible never actually reports that angels do sing.
There is the mention of trumpets blowing in heaven, so music without singing is definitely something of God.
Personally, I think there IS singing in Heaven. Gotta be. Anything that incredible has gotta come from something higher than ourselves. You know.

I believe God gave us music as a gift. Everything is created by God.
Who else could inspire great musicians like Liszt, Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikowsky...
Also, Man really hasn't created anything without some sort of divine inspiration, have we?

I think it goes hand in hand. The thought of God and the creation of man. Dance of ages,rhythm of life etc. God made the rhythm we made the beats type thing.
