Well, there's a huge difference between going to Walt Disney World and going to Universal's Islands of Adventure. Walt Disney World consists of four theme parks, along with two water parks. The Islands of Adventure is just one single park. In my opinion any of the parks at Walt Disney World are much better than either of the two Universal theme parks. I love WDW, it's the most amazing place in th world! There's so much to do, and all the parks are so different from any other theme parks. The Islands of Adventure is a typical theme park a few great roller coasters and not much else. Also, you can get through the Islands of Adventure park in less than a day. There's not a whole lot to do. Any of the parks at Walt Disney World take at least a full day to fully enjoy and complete. Epcot and the Magic Kingdom can easily take two days each.

As far as I'm concerned, Universal's always been in competition with Disney and have NEVER measured up, and never will. And just to prove my point...

"Disney slams Universal in 2005 theme park attendance"

All Walt Disney World theme parks' attendances went up at least 5 percent each, while Universal Studios and the Islands of Adventure attendances decreased by 8.5 percent.

Just want to cleat up some things. There is no place called Harry Potter World. It is a sector at a Universal Resorts theme park called Islands of Adventure. Also i seem to believe that you like many other visitors think that Disney World is some kind of a State Fair or amusement park. I see no problem with kiddie rides. In all the four Disney theme parks there are only 12, what you might call roller coaster types. Much more emphasis on parades - shows and fireworks. I do hope you and your family have budgeted all your expenses for your trip/ You are planning a 14 day trup for 5 adults. That would mean 70 paying days at the parks. Many think $200 a day per person per day for tickets, hotel, food and anything unforeseen is possible. That means your trip could possibly cost close to $14000,without expensive souvenirs.

I've been to both and I say islands of adventure. It has more rides for grown ups but Disney world is pretty fun too. If you go to islands of adventure get there early and go ride spider-man. It's so cool!! It's 3D and we had a great time on it. Have fun

Well, Island of Adventure has a lot of rides, but Disney is great, as well. If you want to have a great dinner and see amazing fireworks or a show, then Disney is your answer. Epcot has amazing restaurants (Le Cellier and the one in Japan are both great) and their illuminations laser and fireworks show is really great. IOA doesn't normally have any fireworks. It is also quite a small park and you can get around there in half a day, as long as the lines aren't 2 hours long. I personally enjoy going to Disney with my husband, and we don't have any children.

Well it depends on what these adults like more. Islands of Adventure is a lot of fun and has some great coasters. However, that is about it. I'm not a fan of their entertainment, just their rides. Disney World has both great rides and great entertainment. Is it possible for you to do both on your next vacation? If so, I recommend trying that.
