I have never heard of a Christian ever beating up on a gay person. That is not the way Christians are supposed to act. Preaching to them on the other hand is a different matter. I have nothing personally against gays they have a right to accept the chosen life style they want. But as a christian i also feel I should have the right to present to them an alternative lifestyle that is more adaptable to society standards. Not necessarily God's standard.

Don't know where you get your sources, but I know a big group of biggots who bash anybody they don't like:

Ever heard of the KKK? Big time Christians.

Sorry to burst your bubble

It's called gay bashing, because the ones being bashed are gay. What does that have to do with being a christian, atheist, agnostic or whatever? If you were trying to make a point that christians would'nt do things like that. Your analogy was very poor. Also, as a Christian why would you make a statement like " an alternative lifestyle that is more adaptable to society standards. Not necessarily God's standards"? As a Christian you should want to relay to them what the Bible says. So, in my humble opinion your christianity is in question. You're a fence rider. One foot God's side so you can maintain contact in time of need. But the other foot on the worldly things when everything is going good. That's (in case you don't know ) is being a hypocrit. So, make up your mind you are either a Christian or you're not.

You've got to be joking? Never heard of a Christian beating up a gay person? I read website after website and have heard sermon upon sermon preaching violence towards homosexuals...never mind the people I know who've been personally attacked. I guess I just imagined all that.

And since when do we come to your Church and shove our views in your face? Can you even imagine? Hello, I'm here at so and so Baptist to tell you about the joys of being a homosexual and as a homosexual, I feel I have the right to present you with an
alternative. I can hear the sirens now and smell the teargas.

Who the hell are you to tell me how to live anyway?

I am really curious as to where you get your definitions and assumptions.. no not really... it is just hard to fathom such a stupid question.
1. Gay bashing means just that bashing gays. It does not imply who the perpetrator of the hate crime is.. nor mention their religion.
2. bible bashers which you seem to somehow be equating to gay bashing is the act of inappropriate use of the metaphors in the bible to belittle or mentally bash someone who they do not accept as human based on some literal interpretation of a metaphor.
3. When you understand that not everyone is christian or wants to be, and that most preaching is repulsive to those of us who have chosen a more enlightened path then perhaps we can talk theology.
As an ex-christian, (the choice of that having absolutely nothing to do with my sexuality) I probably know more about the bible, the koran, the book of mormon and the dead sea scrolls than you do. (I find most christians to be under educated in order that the church and your religion can keep you faithful and unquestioning.)
Suggested reading includes Ching Tao.
We have an alternative life style that we are quite happy with, it is you that has the problem with it, not us.
4. I don't think you are at all qualified to express what God's standards are.

Many many hate groups are christian based. KKK, some sects of Catholosism, Aryan Nations organizations,CHR-IDEN,Christian Patriots Defense League , NEWSTATE.AME, The Order, 'Aryan Liberation Front' , Skinheads, are all christian based hate organizations that have a clear history of beatings, terrorist activities, and other abominations that they justify with mis-interpretations of the christian bible.

I've heard of plenty of Christians beating the living **** out of gays. Being a victem of said bashing on several occassions, I have met very few, if any, athiests, pagans, etc, who have bashed or harrassed me in anyway. one example: Matthew Shepherd was killed by two Christians.

Being gay is not a 'choice.' You cannot help who you fall in love with, gay or straight. Preaching to someone who is gay about the 'straight lifestyle,' does not do you any good. You honestly should not concern yourself with their personal life in any way/shape/form.

And society's standards? I'm sorry, sweetie, but just because the majority says that something is wrong does not mean that it is. Otherwise women would still be subordinate to men, blacks couldn't marry whites, or would still be enslaved, and Jews would still be executed under Hitler's rule.

Riiight. The creeps who killed Mathew Shepard were nice Christian boys - at least that's what their parents said. BTW - What gives you the right to assume that for ANY reason you have the right to present anything to anyone who does not wish it? Most people in this society don't make excuses for gay bashers. God's standards? What do YOU know about God's standards? Nothing, if this posting is any indication.

Gay Bashing=Christianity?? Isn't that what you are saying??? Have you read some of the posts on this forum??

Gay bashing means bashing on homosexuals, or hating them verbally online, or physically harming them. Also, try doing some internet searches on gay bashings and you might be surprised.

"I have never heard of a Christian ever beating up on a gay person. "

You need to get out more. Both of the men that beat Matthew Shepherd to death were Christian (one was Baptist, I don't rememebr the denomination of the other one). The gang that attacked and killed Gwen Araujo - all were Christian. On a local level, a man was beaten for being percieved as gay (he was actually straight) in Jacksonville Door County Wisconsin by - shocking I know - a Christian man.

The gay community isn't just collectively delusional. We have good reason to fear Christians because they are overwhelmingly the ones inflicting physical violence upon us, not to mention the emotional violence of constant lies, misrepresentations, and hatred, the spiritual violence of Bible misuse, and the legal violence of inequal treatment under the law.

Own the actions of you and yours, don't blame us for them.

In Oregon, leading up to the vote on Proposition 9, people would literally spit on and beat up gay people on their way to church.
Truth be told, I don't like the word "bash"; it's become watered down and too vague. I will call you on religious bigotry, should you start throwing it at me though.
