What is the earliest week in pregnancy that the baby's gender can be determined? My next ultrasound is Wednesday and it will be my 16th week. Can they tell the gender this early?

They generally recomend 18-22 weeks for finding out the gender. It is possible at 16 weeks but is very hard to tell. Lets just say, I wouldn't pain the nursery on it. Good luck! Ultrasounds are so great, enjoy and savor every minute of it.

Usually it's around 18 to 20 weeks. I found out at 16 weeks with my son only because I was in the ER for a partial placential abruption and they did an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech said that it's more common to find out early if it's a boy because with most boys it's obvious. With my daughter I had an u/s at 16 weeks and they could not tell one way or the other. Another u/s at 19 weeks showed "girl parts."

Usually they can tell from 18 weeks on. Take a video so you can record the ultrasound. Good Luck!

I think it is 14 weeks, maybe. But, usually they don't try until 20 because the baby is often in the wrong position or genitals are not developed enough to get a good look.

16th week. Depending on the position of the baby. Sometimes, due to the positioning, the doctor cant tell even if you are already due tomorrow.

A friend of mine had her u/s done a couple weeks ago and she was 13 weeks and they told her it was a boy! The dr. said it was little but he knew what he was looking for and the baby was cooperating!
