Okay, so I asked about the best kind of birth control, but now I am curious to what they are going to do when I get in the room. What kind of stuff do they have to do to get me prepared for birth control?

They will do a pelvic exam, probably check your breasts & ask you a lot of embarrassing questions.

Pap smear, Pelvic Exam, Breast Exam, ask a ton of embarrassing questions. Please keep in mind that there's no such thing as the "best kind of birth control" other then keeping your pants up and your legs together. Here's some reasons why you may not want to use certain methods:
IUD: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,951492,00.html
The Patch (aka Ortho Evra): http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8565177/
Norplant: http://www.epigee.org/guide/norplant.html
Depo Provera (some horror stories from previous users): http://www.abcinternetmarketing.com/depo-provera/
Cervical Cap: http://www.epigee.org/guide/cap.html

Just consider this information when you're making your choice. Frankly, I recommend abstinence if you don't want a child and you're not married. If you are, try natural family planning; absolutely no side effects at all and completely safe :)

Besides everything in the other answers, the doctor would also ask about your lifestyle. Explain the various contraceptive methods, its composition, uses, side effects, practicality etc. And will also let you choose which is best for you.

Just remember that it is your body and only you can decide which methos id best.

Good Luck!

pelvic exam/pap smear. have fun! it's all part of being a woman and part of what you have to go through in order to get birth control. just think, if you were to get pregnant you'd have to endure the pelvic exam and a lot worse anyway!

Probably the usual physical (pap smear, pelvic exam, breast exam, preventative care ie self breast exams). Best to be honest in your answers to the questions they ask.

A full exam. Not a big deal. Embarassing but not as much as a doc and a team of nurses watching you deliver your first baby! Kudos to you for choosing birth control, but use condoms to to prevent STDS

They'll probably do a full physical. Pap smear, breast exam, the works. It's not fun but it is necessary.
