Was it bad luck for Tony this year or do you think he's losing his drive at 35? I'm diehard, so I think this was just an off year (Jeff "Crybaby" Gordon had one last year). Thoughts?

Just a couple of incidents kept him from the Chase. That's how close the competition now. Don't forget he is in 11th, not 43rd. :) I was proud when he got out of the car at Richmond and behaved like a true champion.

He is far from washed up, although he admits he has a lot of commitments now, being a track and car owner. Heck, he'll probabky be driving dirt cars at 50 like Schrader! Although, personally, I would like to see him find a nice lady to settle down with. :)

It's been a off year for Smoke. All of the drivers have a off year, Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon had theirs last year. Dale Sr, Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, etc. they all had them.

Trust me when I say that Tony can race with the best of them. I mean, look at how he did at New Hampshire after the cut for the Chase was made!! Tony went out and got a top 5 finish and almost got the win! Anthony Wayne Stewart will be back...you can't keep him away.

Tony isn't the first and he sure as heck isn't the last driver to have a off year.

Tony's just having a bad year. I use to hate him years ago, then I saw a couple of interviews he did which made me understand him and how he sometimes acted & just by watching him race I was totally awed by him too many times, now he's probably my favorite.JR has been my favorite for years but Tony is so awesome!!!! He's also so much nicer than he use to be. I don't understand how more people haven't seen that & why thats not a big story.I think Kevin Harvick is also much nicer than he use to be.I agree with you about Tony & Jeff"crybaby"

I'm a diehard Stewart fan too and he is definately not loosing his drive!!! He has had some horrible luck this year. Tony is still the most talented driver out there, and I have no doubt that he will be back in championship form next year.

It is just a year where Tony had one too many mistakes. Tony certainly hasn't lost anything. He will be back stronger than ever.

Tony's problem is his temper. He goes and flies off the handle, ruins his race car on occasion because of it. The competition is so close that one mishap like that can take you out of the Chase. I think Tony learned that this year.

I have no doubts in my mind that Tony is still competitive. I wouldn't be surprised to see him put a couple more championships under his belt before he is done.

Tony has not lost his drive.I believe there were problems with the team that was transfered to the way he ran this year. When he was running good everything clicked and the team performed well. The when there was a mechanical failure or wreck the team was down ant this took its toll on the driver and team. This resulted in 2 or 3 poor races before the team was up and running again.
Now tony can be a spoiler by good runs during the chase.

I don't think it was that bad of a season, I just think it just shows how good his season was last year. Go Tony and don't give up trust me there is a lot of racing left in Tony

Uhmm definitely just a bad year. It's been mostly bad luck. Look when he hasn't ran into problems (mechanical wise or accident wise) he's ran pretty good.
I think it was just a bad year..and I'm a diehard fan as well, and know in every ounce of me Smoke still has it!!!
