Any good tips on ways to get rid of a lot of chipmunks so they go away and stay gone? Ours have already dug holes all over our yard and now under our garage.

The most humane way to take them out is a rat trap with peanut butter. No suffering that way and you get a body count. The problem with poisons, besides taking a long time to kill them, is you don't KNOW if or how many you got. With the traps you do.

Downside, with the traps you have to deal with them. With poison they go off to a lingering death which you don't have to worry yourself about.

We have used rat traps in the past - HOWEVER - sometimes it does not kill them instantly - and the chipmunks will run around with the trap on their body for 1/2 hr or so., also regular squirrels get caught in them! Have you even seen a full size squirrel run around with a rat trap on their head - not a pretty sight. Cats will take care of them - real quick

Borrow a dog. Retrievers love to chase chipmunks. Cats will eat them.

I kind of like them around... but my cats mostly keep them away. I have holes all about the lawn, either chipmunks or moles but that's life. Sorry.

Pellet/BB gun or possibly a .22 if they're on the bigger size.
