I hope you dont think I'm "correcting" you or anything, but the only real logical think I can come up with here is that it IS your period. It's sounds like your body is either "spitting out" the last of your menstruation, which is sometimes a deep brown, or you're just having some discoloration. If it lasts for another week or a few days less, then you need to see a doctor right away, for it could be something serious. Be safe and good luck!

I'm really sorry I don't know the answer, but I miscarried last year and am now 9 weeks and 4 days. My discharge changed from clear white to yellow and I'm freaking out even though I heard it's normal. All you can do is ask a doctor and try to remain positive. i hope it goes well.

This probably old blood and not that unusual or a reason to worry. Some infections have a thick white or a yellowish discharge often accompanied with itching, some have a thin watery discharge that has a strong odor.
If you are still concerned that period is not normal your Dr. is the only one that can rule out or treat a possible disease.

Hey honey, Im a medical assistant (in training) and maybe I can help.
Usually girls go through this when their period is about to arrive. Its usually old blood, or your body letting you know that your close to your period. Also its common and you maybe suffering of an infection and believe it or not it can affect your period. It may be a common yeast infection. My best reccomendation is see your health professional and get a PAP test or any lab testing done. Dont wait any longer. Ok. Take care, and hope this helps.

Are you on BC? The Depo shot did this to me. The brown is old blood. Nothing to worry about, just gross. When you're on BC pills you don't bleed as much on your period, and if you've either been on them for a while or are just starting them this could happen. It's called spotting. Talk to your doc if it keeps up, you may need to swithch pills. If you're not on pills. and you're not cramping, it is probably just some extra lining and should clear up with your period.

What I want to know is, why havent you gone to the doctor yet? What are you waiting for? Its an infection of some kind, You dont have to be sexually active to get an infection.
Go to the doctor! Dont let it get any worse.

A brown discharge is caused by yeast infection, Go to the drug store and buy a tube of "monistat" and follow instructions on the package as to how to use it.

I had this happen to me too. For me it was like old blood that wasn't expelled during my period, it was very distressing though.
As long as it doesn't smell really bad I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. But I would recommend at least calling your gyno to talk to them about it and see if they reccomend you coming in. It could be some kind of infection.

stop panicking and go to the Health Dept in your area. They provide free, confidential female screening. They also will provide you with medication if needed. I wish I knew how old you were and if you are sexual active. But it doesn't matter just go get it checked. They also provide free contraceptives and especially condoms
