1. If you were a rock and I was a rock, we'd both be too stoned to know what we were doing together.
2. To get breaks on your car implies that they're going to put two break drums plus the shoes to go with them, and two rotors and the pads to go with those. Big money.
3. There are two styles of breaks on your car; on the back are break drums (they look like big bowls) and then there are break shoes that mount inside the drums that press outward against the sides of the drum to slow and stop the car. One the front axle are break disks (they look like a saucer) and there are break pads that fit straddled over the edge of them. When you apply the breaks, the pads pinch the disk to slow and stop you.
Whew, that'll be $172.50. Thanks for your business and come again.

there is no difference, just the wording between brakes and brake pads.
the difference between shoes and pads is, shoes expand inside a closed drum, and when they hit the drum, it causes resistance and slows you down. Pads are used for disc brake systems, the work the opposite, they retract against a disc, causing resistance, slowing you down.
is that all you wanted to know?

YEah the pads are usually all a person needs---sometimes the rotor gets a little funky and needs work too...thats when the BIG$$ come into play! Sounds like you got to it early enough--so it should just be pad/shoes!!
AND YES I'D LOVE TO ROCK TOGETHER!!

there are two types of brakes: disc, and drum. disc are the newer design and better of the two. disc brakes are fairly simple you have a metal disc on the inside of your wheel that spins with your tires and there are two pads that pinch that disc to make you stop. Drum brakes have something like a bowl inside your wheel that spins with your tire and to make you stop a pad is pressed against the inside of the bowl. Drum brakes are a pain in the butt, disc brakes are so easy I save hundreds of dollars by replacing them myself

If you were a rock and you rubbed against another rock you wouldn't rock, you'd sand....I crack myself up.
Yes, cars have brake shoes and they wear down and you put new ones in and then you're safe - it's a good thing.

Aye Cap`n we could.
Brake shoes/pads are the same thing.Get `em changed before you mess up the rotors, don`t have the rotors "Trued",it`s not that
much more to have them replaced.
