How could a god have the desire to create a universe? Desire, consiousness, memory, etc are functions of the brain. A brain needs oxygen, glucose, etc.
All gods are imaginary.

Would you believe both? If you read between the lines of the book of Genesis, you can see that God created the earth and it was without form. Doesn't this sound something like what the primordeal universe is described as? Then, when God said, "Let there be light", the big bang was an explosion from which all the primary forces of the universe (including electromagnetism or "light" Eagleflyer) formed. This happened very quickly.
I like the way one of the other answers puts it: "He just let physics take over". That is essentially true. God created physics and it is an extension of His will.
Before the universe, God was. And since time did not exist before the universe, the question as to what came before is irrelevant and meaningless
It is clear that the units of time mentioned in Genesis as a "day" is not the conventional day as we know it. We measure a day by the rising and setting of the sun, but in Genesis, the sun is not created until the second "day" so obviously, the days referred to in Genesis are different. That leaves the door open for evolution to occur over millions of years.
There are those who read a little bit about science or maybe study a little bit. Then they decide that it is intellectually cool or hop to question God.
Hopefully, they will keep studying and learning and will eventually come to the conclusion that the more that they know, the more they realize that they don't know all that much, and that a lack of proof that something exists is not proof that something does not exist.

Its stupid how some ppl just stick in 1 opinion and they dont open their eyes up a bit.
Did u ever think that they say everything was created in 7 days, those days are not supposed to be our 24 hour days , but very very long like milions of our 'years'. Someone mentioned there wasnt light 300 000 years after the big bang, ddidnt u ever guys thought that god must have been creating something else during that time..
I mean noone knows for sure, but I think GOD was there first, then in those 7 days, which were milions of our years he created everything. I do think that god is involved in everything, and most scientists think not, but its so ridiculuos, how something like 'bing bang' would happen without someone in this case god wanting it to happen...

Why not both? There is evidence for the existence of the Big Bang, and there is no evidence for the existence of God. But you are free to believe that God exists as long as you don't hurt anybody because of that belief or try to force anybody to say that they believe the same thing.
But why not believe that God caused the Big Bang? That will save you a lot of Rolaids.
By the way, this is a metaphysical/religious question and it does not belong in the "science" sections.

If you believe God created the Universe, and the Universe by definition is absolutely everything, that Who or What created God?
And if you say God is eternal, why have God at all? Why not say the natural forces that created the big bang are eternal.
Whatever your belief on God, the scientific evidence is overwhelming. If the Universe was created by God, then He did it in a Big Bang 14 billion years ago, and let physics control everything ever since.

Well... as far as the "Bing Bang" goes, only Bing Crosby knows for certain if he played any role in the creation of the universe. And he's dead.
Guess that leaves it up to God.

A: just how long is a day to God? As in "God created the heaven and earth in six days and on the seventh rested.."
B: don't you think God doing something like snapping his fingers and saying "Voila" would make a really really Big Bang.
Why can't science[something discovered or figured out by man] and religion [something invented by a human] go together. Oh, that's right. One is what the true "Creator" made for us and then gave us brains to figure out and the other is what certain mortals thought up to attain money and power and influence, oh I mean invented to figure out God and make others give them money and power and influence for "figuring" God out.

Big bang is a scientific theory, it could yet be found to be wrong.
God is a human invention, created in the fertile imaginative brains of humans with a big brain and insufficient data about the universe to feed this brain

as i just stated in a question posted a bit ago i think God but i also believe that every one is entitled to his/her own opinion as a society were always trying to convince people that were right and that our way is the only way. i know this is a very bias statement but once we realize that there and billions of other people on this planet who have feelings, breath and bleed just like we do and we all have the same basic needs is when we'll start to solve things

I think Big Bang, but that's me.
P.S. There was no light until about 300,000 years after the Bang.
