Symbols are an interesting and a very effective tool for healing, spiritual growth and transformation. They can be seen as "etheric enzymes" in a way as they catalyze specific reactions in the subtle bodies and consciousness.
Each symbol has its own specific vibration and by connecting with the symbol we are able to access and align with that specific facet of the Life Force Energy. Symbols are a very personal tool since every person perceives them slightly differently. The tone/energy pattern stays the same but when it gets interpreted through the individual's perception, it can produce many different experiences. The energy can trigger old memories and subconscious associations thus producing a variety of impressions. There is no right way to interpret the energy, as the energy itself has no labels. It's simply a reaction that is to be experienced.

A very interesting question, and yes I do agree.
I am a witch and I also practise ritual magic in which the use of symbology is very heavily used.
Sigilatary and designing sigils is a very interesting process because, as you say a symbol seeps into the mind and can stir memories from the collective consciouses and and very quickly be brought to mind.
I find custom sigils (symbols) to be fascinating to make , but even more so is watch others make them...
I will not go more into detail on this here, but you can mail me via my profile if you like..

I totally agree with your view on the subject because I use and have done for a long time symbols for various functions in my life and they work for me.People think I am a little eccentric but it is nice to think I am not alone . I use one for protection.and another for continuing good health and I think my belief system re-inforces the whole action

"Joy is a deceptive trap; grief is a real preceptor, teaching caution, circumspection, discrimination, detachment, awareness and vigilance. Death is not the merciless that he is made out to be; he is the friend and companion, the teacher, the kindly kinsman, who takes you into his fold and clothes you with the halo of remembrance. The heart of man has to be toughened, not hardened; it has to be made soft, not slithery; this can be achieved only by the blows of loss, grief and distress. It is God's way of shaping us in the Divine mould."

"Struggle to realise ATMA to visualise God; even failure in this struggle is nobler than the success in other worldly affairs."

I am sitting here with my mouth hanging open!

Not elegant I have to say! But highly symbolic of how I feel after reading the answers to your question.

Had never given it thought before; but will now. Thank you for opening ,my mind a little further.

Symbols only have power if you give it to them. Something like the placebo effect. If you don't believe the symbol has power does it?

Symbols are merely an affectation of the here and now. Stick with reality - limit your pretentiousness - and you will be better off!

SYMBOLS ARE just made up representations...why would they have energy? I mean it's just kooky.
