Does anyone know where I can get more information on prisons? I need to know who goes to max, min, and med prisons. I also need to know who makes up the majority of inmates (crimes, race, and age). Thank you to everyone who will help me find the answers and websites to research.

Most definitely more men than women. As of june 2005 there were approx 1,406, 000 male prisoners and 106,000 female prisoners 13 to 1.
black males 3218 per 100,000, hispanic males 1220 per 100,000 and white males 463 per 100,000

Prisoners are in the maximum if the crimes they committed are heinous. In the medium, if the crime committed is less grave. In the minimum, if the crime committed is only a minor one. The Penal laws provides for the categories of the crimes from a minor to heinous crimes.
