hey, im listening to the green day international superhits alblum. it has an awesome sound. just really heavy Bass, poppy vocals, great attitude. is there any hope for pop/rock stars to exsist anymore? or is it just going to be rappers, sluts (divas) and underground heavy metal? i know many of you are fed up with it, but i like this sound. i guess that's what killed green day. when you hear it, you want to copy it right off the bat. either because you emulate em, or because it's actually a really easy style, and you think you could do better? is that what killed pop/rock/punk style music?

There's always hope - you just have to stick around long enough for something fresh to come along - I felt the same depression when The Beatles broke up, but then somebody new came along (in that case it was Bowie). The same pattern has been repeated time and time again - there was a similar depression at the end of the 50's, with Elvis in the army, Chuck Berry in jail, Jerry Lee Lewis in disgrace, Little Richard in the church, and Buddy Holly in his grave - then The Beatles came along, and everything was cool again, for a while . . . in the mid-70's, disco was killing rock, until the Sex Pistols & Ramones came along and brought back the energy . . . that dissipated, until MTV happened along . . .and when MTV was getting stale, Nirvana hit.

not everyone likes the new stuff that is coming out....I too am a Green Day fan, i have every album, even the ones before Dookie. But i am one of those people that likes all different kinds of music, so i say rock is not dead, but i am thinking maybe these new styles will die out after about 10 years. I like SOME (not all) of the newer sounds that have come out. Fall Out Boy, Trivium, Three Days Grace are some i like that are newer. New styles are just something you have to deal with....and its obviously selling to the younger generations....i think it sells because it relates better to the younger people. Long lived ROCK!

What are you talking about your part of the problem. New green day is gay and poppy. The only good green day album out there is Dookie after that i lost all respect for that band. And i know i can do better come hear my band anytime buddy. There are a lot of good bands out there they are just not big.

Green Day is just copying a bunch of other people like Elvis Costello, The Ramones, The Clash. They didn't do anything new or exciting.

I think it all sucks terribly! I prefer the rock (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins etc). However, currently I do like some NickelBack, ALL of Chevelle, Seether and some other stuff.

I think pop/rock/punk style is still out there.. but "rappers" are just more popular at the moment.. everything seems to go in cycles.. it'll come back to the top eventually..
