Plan ahead. You can purchase Disney tickets through AAA or a local Disney Store. (this step can help spread out the costs of your vacation)

I like to stay on Disney property because they offer free transportation from the airport and to all the parks. I stay at one of the "Value Resorts" because they are the cheapest and I am only sleeping and showering there. I then take the monorail or some other means of Disney transportation (there are also boats and buses) to the "fancier" resorts. I stroll around, take photos, etc. I get the "feel" of the luxury resorts without the costs!!

Another way to save some money is if you are going with someone (and I assume you are), you can share meals. For less than $10 two people can each get a drink and share a burger and fries. This is often enough food for a mid-day meal.
You can do this at most of the other restaurants, also. We have never been refused. Of course, you cannot do this for things like character meals or dinner shows.

If you stay off property and rent a car. Try to get a place with a kitchen or kitchenette. You can go to a local grocery store and purchase food. You can do breakfast before you leave, and dinner when you return. We did this in 2004, worked out pretty well.

Have a great time!

Sometimes Disney offers great vacation packages. Check on their website. A few times a year they run a special on resort hotel rooms starting around $60. Well, at least it was close to that last time I checked. These resort hotel deals are great because each resort hotel has shuttles to all the Disney parks so its a great savings if you plan on flying. Plus if you stay in the resort you can do the Magic hours or pay a little to do the After hours. I know that Disney offers transport to and from the local airport, but I'm not sure how much extra this costs.

If you are referring to the parks with the park hopper passes the prices of them just are what they are. If you want to go to Disney then you purchase the tickets, same as all others and pay the same price. There are no last min. deals on these. You pay to play inside.

You can chose to get expiring hopper passes instead of non-expiring passes which are a bit more expensive. With expiring passes if you cancel you don't get your money back. Only way you could be covered on the passes is to get travel insurance and if it is a covered reason in the insurance.

Meals are very expensive inside the parks. You can get a meal plan, but that is only available to you when staying on-sight. If you are staying on-site it would be beneficial to get the meal plan. It is a lot more expensive in purchasing on arrival. Same with if you want to do the water parks. Purchase those with your package with the hopper passes. If you stay on-site you will have included in your package transfers from the airport to your hotel called the "Disneys Magical Express" and it's about 30 - 40 min to Disney depending on traffic that is.

If you are looking for cheap you are talking the 1or 2 star hotel off-site and eating at a fast food place or cooking at your motel.

Disney isn't cheap.......depending on how inexpensive you are trying to go I would suggest something besides Disney. Because if you are spending more than your able to you won't be having a good time there because you will only think of what you are spending and not enjoying your holiday. Determine your monetary limits and stay within those, if you are able to that is.

Otherwise you can do as others said and stay by Disney, but not go in the parks. Just enjoy entertainment outside the park. I can tell you it definately won't be the same though. Especially if you WANT to go to Disneyworld.

Purchase park tickets at AAA or your local Disney store to receive a discount.

Purchase necessities like rain ponchos, batteries, and film before you leave for Orlando. They charge an arm and a leg for these simple items inside the parks.

Get a room with a kitchenette so that you can cook some of your own meals

Purchase a disposbale cooler from Wal Mart in Orlando and prepare a lunch to take in with you to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks. These are the only two parks where Disney allows coolers. Take advantage! The only good food inside anyway are the funnel cakes.

Split your park visits into 2 days. Purchase a 2 day park hopper for everyone. On day 1, visit Animal Kingdom and Disney MGM Studios. On day 2, visit Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

Take bottled waters into the parks with you... just bury them at the bottom of your bag. Don't throw them away-- instead, refill them throughout the day at water fountains.

You could rent a trailer at a trailer park. Rent the cheapest car available (you'll definitely need one). There are offers and specials by almost every car rental company. If you buy a ticket to Sea World, they usually give you an additional day. There are multiple day offers at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. Forget about trying to get cheap Disney tickets. It won't happen.
Avoid eating at the parks. Sneak a sandwich at the bottom of a backpack and they usually won't find it.
Surf the web a little for park ticket offers.

Stay outside the park limits at night. Kissimmee has Old Town which has some nice hotels that are about $40 per night and Old town is very lively at night. Catch the shuttle from the hotel to save parking. Don't go to the park hungry. Buy a multi day ticket. I live about two hours away - buy a year pass - that's the cheapest way!

Park outside the front gates and watch everyone else go in.

Seriously- There are several areas around Disney that you do not have to pay to go into. They have a boardwalk with shops and entertainment, a lighhouse and lake with a beach. It's completely free. Check it out.
