Yes, I do feel that people who abuse animals should get some type of punishment. Depending on the extent of the abuse, it could be anything from community service to jail time. I do think abusing human beings is much worse, but the animals deserve decent treatment as well and we need to look out for them.

I don't think they should get time at all. Counseling would go a lot further since it's usually a precursor to abusing people. I'd rather fix the problem before it escalates into something that is going to hurt a person. Jail is not going to fix someones head.

yes i do! all my animals have been rescue missions! My german shepard....grey black and white.....never seen one like her b4.a freind i worked with told me about her,,,i already had a dog and a cat but told him i would take a look at her.well he brought her to work,,,,,,,she was sooooooooooooo skinny i didnt' let him take her back,i kept her there with me for aboutan hour.Come to find out she was locked in the basement.everytime she heard a handle jiggle,,,,that's when seh knew they were coming down there,,,she would p.her body broke down so bad she hasa mild form of mange...not contagious or all my animals would have it.but when her system gets stressed she will loose hair around her mouth and blister up.Got her over the submissive p for the most part.i washed my bed 6 times one day cuas she would lay up there.i would walk in and tell her to get down...she would let loose.it took over a yr to get this broke! when we come home she would get to excited and go too.she bit my son who at teh time was only a yr old cause she was eating.....and he came up to her...not her fault...she was firmlly told no, but i understood why........she didnt' have food at a steady supply.4 yrs later. Now she is doing wonderful, she's not skinny, loves us,knows she has a good home, plays with the other dogs great, even the cats.,she'll chase but won't hurt, and the only accidents she has is when we come home and if they got in the garbage she will p.she knows someone will be gettiing in trouble.so yes ppl who abuse neglect or anythign need jail time!ppl aren't always understanding and deal with abused dogs well,,,,they just reinforce the hitting if one p's all the time.or the stress it is when dealling with animals...

I think if a person hurts an animal then the person should receive the exact same treatment as the animal did as punishment!
Did that make sense...? I think so!
