The 80's team would dominate. Jordan, Bird, Magic, and nine slow white guys from an Ivy league school, could easily beat the 2000 era squad. Haven't you seen how horribly the U.S. teams have fared in competition in world play like the Olympics, and other tournaments in recent years??
It's embarrassing.
Remember when Carlos Arroyo and Puerto Rico beat the U.S. squad?? Were not talking Jordan, Bird, and Magic here. Were talking Carlos Arroyo!!
You didn't mention David Robinson either.

The 1980s team would win because they have players who know how to win when it counts the most. Dr.J and Kareem should be on
the team. KJ was a good player, but he shouldn't take a spot from
Dr. J or Kareem.
USA can't even win at the Olympics or World Championships when they send a bunch of hotshot NBA young stars over recently. What makes you think they would belong on the same floor as the 1980s team you assembled? The league wasn't as watered back then as it is now. In the late 1980s and 1990s, expansion diluted the talent pool with the addition of teams in Charlotte, Miami, Minnesota, Toronto, Vancouver, and one other place that escapes me at the moment. The Dream Team of
the 80s would mop the floor with 2000s team.

If this were played in there prime the 80's would because they have more outside shooters. just imagine larry bird and stockton burning the hoops from three, Ewing and Malone shooting from the perimeter and drawing the defense out while the dream and barkley scoring in the low post. and i have'nt talked about jordan, magic, pippen, drexler and thomas.

and by the way T-mac on the 2000 team does'nt guarantee a win heck he can even get the rockets to the play offs.

I will pick the 2000 team if you include others like Bruce Bowen and Dwight Howard to help defend and 2 time mvp steve nash with a healthy Amare. The game today seems more physical and the sport seems to be regaining the high speed it once had.

By a small margin the 2000 will beat the 80's now if the 2000's played 90's they would get there ***' handed to them.

I would definitely say the 80's squad, because they played more team hoops back then. Plus the talent pool wasn't diminished, with all these extra teams-every team now has a few more stiffs, and isn't as high quality as the average team then. I don't even think it would be close.

the 2000s would lose simply because they dont play NO TEAM BASKETBALL.But in the 80s u got players who could perform hilite dunks and still play team ball.

THE 2000S GOT NO DEFENSE EITHER.
