Its slope and its the horizontal distance of a slanted line on a graph between two points divided by the vertical distance between two points. An easy way to remember it is "rise over run."

There are two terms here, slope and slop. The others have defined slope. Slop means you've messed up in answering the problem, it is like someone with a lot of experience playing a video game calling you a noobie.

I'm guessing you're referring to "slope"..which is the change in y-values divided by the change in x-values on a graph. It's rate of change, basically.

For two points,
(x1, y1) , (x2, y2)
m (slope) = (y2 - y1) / (x2- x1)
