On August 23, his locker was cleaned out by the Dallas Cowboys. With Drew Bledsoe as the starter, and Tony Romo having a strong preseason, Head Coach Bill Parcells said was not inclined to keep Henson on the roster. His official status was unclear until August 24, when he was officially released.

Having cleared waivers, Henson is now free to sign with any NFL team. On August 26, 2006, it was reported that the Detroit Lions aren't interested in Henson but the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns are expected pursue him.

He is currently working out with different teams but I think the Browns and Bengals are showing the most interest right now.
