the others answered your question perfectly, but here's what you really need to know..

Drop Ship = 100's of competitors selling the same thing you are, they make their money by having many people promoting and selling their products for them.

On Hand = You are the one with the product, hopefully something desired, in short supply, or at a great price. You are in control, and have less competition, so therefore greater profit potential.

eBay is the largest online marketplace and one of the most popular ways to earn an income from home with a PC and internet connection. Selling on eBay is inexpensive and easy to start. Ebay has a number of tools for sellers to maximise sales. These are eBay Pulse, Hot items report, merchandising calendar. By sourcing products at a low price, you can increase your profit. Both refer to how you hold your inventory.

"Drop ship" means that you (the seller) do not have inventory at your place of business or in storage. Instead, you take an order and resubmit it along with the destination address directly to your supplier, who, in turn, ships it directly to your customer. Benefit to you = no inventory carrying charges.

"On hand" menas exactly that. You have physical inventory at your shop (or home office). When you get an order, you wrap it and ship it to your customer.

I always ask myself why the drop shipper (i.e., the company actually making the product) doesn't sell it directly to the customer. Something to consider - Good luck.

Tpycially, a drop ship item is shipped directly to the end user by the manufactorer or distributor. On hand inventory is that inventory that is in your location and that you ship to the end user.
