well. i have been talking to the guy i like almost every day for almost 2 weeks now (excluding weekends). we have studyhall together and we talk usually during it. we also have history together right before studyhall. well so now we r friends. today i wrote him a note that basically asked him if he wanted to hang out this week or next week cuz i want to get to know him better. he replied saying something like "possibly but it depends on how busy i am w/ the world history project" and stuff so like is that just a polite way of him saying he doesnt want to hang out, or does he really think he will be busy. i am content just being friends w/ him and would love to be really good friends...it would be fine if we never went out as long as we were friends. what did he mean for real?

1. he is DEFINITELY not shy at all. all the girls love him. he is HILARIOUS...like he totally overflirts w/ major flirts on purpose and its hilarious. i mean he plays nervous for fun w/ his friends and stuff.
2. the project is in groups so i cant ask to help him cuz like he already has a group to work w/ of friends and i have a group of friends im working with, but we do talk about our projects together.
3. i really am content being his friend because he is the most amazing person i know...well one of them. i just want to be better friends cuz right now we r just school friends but i want to really know him and really be a true friend for him.

I think he truly believes he might be too busy and doesn't want to commit himself and then later call it off.
He sounds like a well educated guy.
Your note doesn't sound too imposing, so I don't think he was just trying to escape.

It sounds like a brush off, but I don't know him, so he might be telling the truth. Depending on age, he might not be allowed to date and too embarrased to say that. Maybe he likes you, but his friends don't, or something. If yo're content being just friends, don't push it too much. Wait a few weeks before you ask again, and suggest an activity (a movie, a group trip to the beach, etc.) so that its less stressful than just asking if he wants to 'hang out' (which could mean ANYTHING.) Also, if you do make it a group thing, it will be less akward and he won't have to worry about his friends saying anything.

Ah...the drama of high school relations.....oh to go back and do it over again.....
Does he have a history project coming due? If he does, he likely thinks he'll be busy......I mean, World History projects take time, and he doesn't want to commit to hanging out with you and then have to cancel due to the prior committment of the World History project. Give him some room....he knows you're interested.....let him come to you......you've extended the invite....now just give him time to figure out his schedule...don't get all over analytical and dissect his answers.....trust me, things will work out.....

If you were content on being friends why did you try to push it further. Whatever happened to us women letting men make the first move. We have to learn to take our queues from the man, and then feed off of them It will save us from getting our feelings hurt so often. Play hard to get!

Sounds to me like he has something he's got to work on. Ask if he needs help...if he says no, then maybe he does have other plans.. be sure to pay attention to how he says it...seeing him in person give you an answer tells alot about if he's making excuses or not..

It's hard to say. The person you need to be talking to is the person you gave the note to.

it could mean both. . .time will reveal the truth. you put your feeling out there, it is up to him to reciprocate. do nothing more.
