We tried for 4 years and then when I finally went to the doc who referral me on to a specialist- investigations showed I wasn't ovulating. After 4 months of Clomid- i am now 15 weeks pregnant (due on my 29th birthday). I had to have scans and different tests first to make sure my tubes were fine as there can be a lot a problems if they're not. Also a scan day 12 every month to make sure my ovaries were responding the way they should have been and not going into overdrive (overdrive being polycystic ovaries). You need to see a specialist- it can have a lot of side effects- although the best one is pregnancy.
Clomid wasn't covered by my health fund as it wasn't the cheapest drug of its kind available. It cost a bit every month- especially because I had to take 3 tablets for 5 days in the end as my ovaries didn't respond to the lesser dose. But it has a great success rate if lack of ovulation is the problem so to me was worth the money.
As for people who say 'just stop trying/ stop thinking about it and it will happen'- yes you might get pregnant but if you only ovulate once a year it can take a very very long time... Although I am in a better place in my life than I was 4 years ago I can't help but think if only I had got help straight away and saved all those tears and heart break of month after month of not being pregnant. All the things I did to help myself and I tried everything- not stressing does not get your ovaries to work..

I've just gotten off the pill recently as well and my periods haven't been regular yet. Also, I can usually tell when I'm ovulating and since I've been off the pill this time it's been inconsistant. I wouldn't rely on the ovulation tests from home. I think you should just give it a little more time and then go to the doctor for tests if things don't take their natural course in a few months. Good luck - I know what you are going through!

Check out fertilityfriend.com, it will explain charting to you. You will be able to tell by charting if you ovulate or not. After the pill I was only ovulating every few cycles and by charting I was able to find a pattern and get pregnant naturally, hope that helps!

Go see your ob/gyn. I wasn't ovulating and I didn't have to take clomid to get pregnant. I had to take some hormones. I think I was low in progesterone. They can do some simple tests to figure out what you need.
As for the cost of clomid, but I don't know. My insurance covered the hormones.

YOu might need to wait a few months and give it some time.
After your birth control, your hormones need time to regulate themselves.
I wouldn't go and put some other drug in your system right away.
You are not letting nature take it's course and let your body get back to normal.... YOur body knows what is best for it,
your body is made to be pregnant.
The best thing to do is take it easy, eat right, exercise, try to get "in the mood" as often as possible, make love whenever possible-- your hormones should get back on track in a few months time.
You need to have patience.
